International Women's Day

Today is International Women's Day. The celebration began in honour of women's economic, social and political achievements, and the date was declared a holiday by the United Nations. It is still an official holiday in a number of countries, and has become a more general celebration of womanhood.

When an International Men's Day is declared, we'll know that feminism has finally made sufficient progress.

Thanks for your comment, Anonymous. I'm interested to hear this event exists and will certainly make a note of the date.

I think it is important to celebrate both male and female energies.

OK I've done a quick search on this now, I see that International Men's Day is on November 19, (I also came across an unofficial one for 14 March) so I'll put in on the calendar.

Do something? Yes, I'll put it on my blog if I remember, that's what I did for International Women's Day.
